Bancha

Bancha (Jap. 番茶, ban (common) and cha (tea)) is a type of green tea harvested during the later summer seasons of the year. Bancha is considered an everyday green tea and is the second most popular tea variety in Japan after Sencha. In Japan, Bancha is grown in the same regions as Sencha. Consequently, a significant portion of the tea comes from Shizuoka, a renowned tea-growing area at the foot of Mount Fuji, where nearly half of all Japanese tea is cultivated. However, Bancha tea can also originate from Kyoto or Kagoshima.
